I’m on vacation (sort of).

I’m “up north”, about an hour away from where I live, with the grandparents and the little brother. We’re currently outside, and I’m getting some free internet from a wi-fi thing. I hope, anyway…

So I’m taking pictures, and I’ll post ’em here, because I like to think people are interested, ha. (: It’s beautiful. Fairly boring for us younger folk, but it’s really beautiful, especially now, at sunset.

I love it here, sometimes. I hate the lack of Interwebz, but I loove the look, and all the writing I get done.

I guess that’s it from me.

Milwordy count: 30,140. Heck yeah. (:

Reading books again.

So I went to the library today, and got these nine books:

Les Miserables, Victor Hugo

1984, George Orwell

Animal Farm, George Orwell

Farenheit 451, Ray Bradbury

This Perfect Day, Ira Levin

Cat’s Cradle, Kurt Vonnegut

Slaughterhouse-Five, Kurt Vonnegut

And in the way of non-classics/newer novels:

The Weight of Silence, Heather Gudenkauf

Under the Dome, Stephen King.

It’s a lot, especially the two monster novels (Under the Dome and Les Miserables), but I’m really excited to read them. I’ve been meaning to for a really long time.

I’ve just started 1984, and I love it. I’m so excited to continue reading. (: Ha. I’m such a dork. xD

I guess that’s all from me. I want to keep reading. (:

In writing news… I have no writing news. ๐Ÿ˜› Hopefully I will, later. >< I have an idea for a story, about a supernova killing nearly the entire population, but I don’t know if I’m going to write it.

Later, readers. (:

Finally.

I have it all planned out. Crashed, I mean.

Two chapters to go, about 8/9 scenes. I know what has to be written, and how it’s going to end. It’ll be bittersweet, I’ll probably end up crying (though that’s nothing new). ย However, I think it could be something that, once edited, could be pretty good.

Also, I finished a short story today. (: It’s a short, fluffy piece, about 2000 words. I like it, though it’s second person present tense. xD I play around with tenses/POVs a lot. (:

This is a short post, but I really want to get to writing. ๐Ÿ˜€

I hate how unproductive I am.

I hate this.

I want to write. I have the next several chapters plotted (and the ending is really outlined).

I just won’t write it.

I tell myself, “One more game of Freecell.”

Five games later, I’m still telling that to myself.

>< I just want to move on from this. I love the plot, but I don’t really want to write it anymore. I want to finish it in one more night, one looong night, but I know I won’t.

And so it goes. ><

Blah. I fail at Milwordy.

Milwordy!

So I suppose that now the only two people (okay, one person) that actively reads this blog knows, I can post it here.

This year, I’m taking part in a lil’ thing called Milwordy.

What’s this, you ask?

Basically, from August 21, 2010 – August 21, 2011, I’m going to try to write a million words.

They won’t be super-awesome. Most of them won’t be any good. But (if all goes well) they will get done, and that’s the important part, here.

Currently, I have something like 13K, and I’m having a lot of fun with Crash (the working title for the story, because Subway reminded me of the restaurant :P). I’ll edit it sometime later in the year, and I think it could be something pretty good. By my standards, anyway.

In other writing news, I’ve decided that the official working title of the fantasy story is Rebellion, ’cause I’m unoriginal and calling it “the fantasy thingy” just doesn’t fly with me. ๐Ÿ˜› I’m still working on the backstory/history/maps, just not at the speed I was.

All in all, it’s great fun. I’ll probably upload a map of the continent (ooh, I should name that, eh?) when it’s all nice & pretty, just for gits and shiggles. (:

I just had a highly entertaining, four-hour phone conversation with two of the greatest people ever. โค Twas great fun.

I got a wrist brace today. ๐Ÿ˜› It’s not very pretty (as a matter of fact, it glitters, and that’s really distracting), but it works, and my wrist hasn’t been bugging me at all. (Actually, it’s my elbow that’s hurting, for whatever reason. WHAT THE HELL.)

But, eh. Enough complaining.

Back to writing.

Oh, no.

I just…

Oh, crap. ><

So this short story just morphed into something twisted and complex and on the almost-side of sci-fi, except not sci-fi, really. More like… Hmm. More like a Twilight Zone episode than anything, though not as well written.

I have two ways to go about this, however. Both involve only one person surviving, though they’re two different people.

Crap, crap, crap.

Back to writing, I guess. I’ll try both endings, unless one just seems better.

(Also, my apologies for the excessive short posts. I’ll try to post less/better posts in the future, mkay?)

This novel is not a novel.

It’s going to end up being 20K at most. Which makes it a…. what, exactly? Short story? Novella? Mini-novella?

Argh. I wish there was more plot, but there’s only so much you can do with a few days’ time (in the story, I mean) and 7 characters. I’d do a bunch of backstory, but I don’t want it to seem contrived. :/ I mean, I’d find it interesting, but I doubt anyone else would.

Hmm. Ah, well. I suppose I’ll have to wait until it ends, and see where I can go from there. Perhaps there’s room for a sequel; only a few characters are going to be alive at the end, but perhaps. Maybe this thing’s not even worth working with, though. ><

I’ll know when it’s done, I suppose.
